Inspiration
As a Modern Pictorialist, a requirement of the practice of photography arts is to be in position to record a moment, as with my abstract “Trees In Love”. The renowned French photographer, Henri Cartier Bresson, described those blessed points in time as “a decisive moment”. That is what it felt like when receiving “Trees In Love”. When the unexpected breeze kicked up to ripple the water’s reflection with those beautiful impressionistic broken colors, I felt that I was there for that very reason.
Meet the Artist
Living in Boston, whose treasures include one of the largest collections of Impressionistic art in the world, Jake has been profoundly influenced by these beautiful paintings. he loves Impressionism and use camera techniques that give a photograph an Impressionistic look and feel. In photography arts, the era than ran concurrent to the Impressionistic movement is called Pictorialism. Jake is a Modern Pictorialist in that I “create paintings” with my camera.
